It’s been an incredible journey, with hundreds of these exceptional shotguns now in the hands of competition shooters, instructors, state champions, and countless others seeking a high-value, reliable, and durable platform. The YILDIZ Pro’s impeccable handling mirrors the legendary characteristics that made Perazzi famous, earning glowing reviews from leading magazines and industry experts such as Shooting Sportsman. What sets me apart as the brand's leading dealer is simple: I love this gun. Well known master-class shooters and instructors including Gary Hazard, Jon Parish, Brett Buehler, and Barry Kelly—who recently clinched both his state championship and a FITASC All-American title—have praised the Pro Star for its performance. Many of my clients are repeat buyers, with one enthusiastic customer owning five! It’s no wonder the YILDIZ Pro has become a favorite among discerning shooters. From its hand-cut engraving (not laser or “chased” but cut), to its high-grade Turkish walnut, exceptional metal hardness, and renowned reliability and durability, the YILDIZ Pro speaks for itself. And all this is offered at a price that other brands often exceed just for their base models. REAL SUB GAUGE COMPETITION SPORTING’s: A year ago, the 20 gauge and 28 gauge 32” Sporting shotguns arrived—and thrilled clients, myself included. Straight out of the box, I won my first two sub-gauge events and quickly fell in love with not having to change my lead style from my 12 bore whatsoever. Weighing in at roughly eight pounds, these guns feature a receiver that mirrors the size of the MX20, making the transition from a 12-gauge seamless in competition. And recoil? This is, without a doubt, the softest-shooting 20-gauge I’ve ever fired. THE WOOD! The best looking Turkish walnut available by any maker-period. Why? They are the supplier of high grade Turkish walnut to the trade-it’s the mother ship of what I call ‘The Jesus Tree’. So many of you have come back to upgrade, get one for their family or turn their shooting buddies on to one. One of our most prominent masters Brett Buehler has not only lit it up on the competition trail this year with many wins, he has also logged 85,000 rds through his Pro. TRUE LEFT HAND OFFERINGS: While nearly all other manufacturers make left-handed options difficult or even impossible to find, the YILDIZ Pro stands out by delivering true left-hand configurations. With genuine left-hand cast on at the face, heel, and toe, there’s zero compromise in fit or feel. An adjustable comb comes standard, designed in the neutral position to provide the smooth, “no-ledge” feel that left-handed shooters should expect—not just wish for. MID-HEIGHT RIBS I wanted a design that seamlessly integrates into the rib, avoiding the distracting “on-ramp” appearance so many manufacturers use as a shortcut. Equally important, I aimed for a stock that wasn’t a trap stock. One of the most common complaints I’ve received about other mid-rib designs is that their combs are unnecessarily high in the down position. We’ve solved that issue, delivering a gun that offers a smooth, natural mount and feel—exactly what shooters want. FIXED CHOKE BARRELS Prefer fixed chokes? No problem. Or choose the standard extended chokes, which measure perfectly true to bore and constriction—your call. This platform is backed by U.S.-based parts and service, with tolerances closer than any gun I’ve ever worked with. And servicing a Pro is as straightforward as servicing a Perazzi. Every shipment sells out quickly, and for good reason. I’ve been in clay sports for over 40 years as a master-class competitor, gunfitter, and lover of fine firearms. My visit to their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility left me amazed. Unlike other makers, their operation relies on cutting-edge equipment, with zero need for hand-fitting. Why doesn’t every manufacturer adopt this approach? Simple: it requires an investment few are willing to make. YILDIZ, however, spent many millions on new equipment in a state of the art facility, setting a benchmark for quality and precision that most competitors can’t match. The Original History The Story of How the Pro Star Came to Me In October of 2017, I was approached about evaluating a new Turkish competition shotgun. Initially, I wasn’t interested. However, the importer—a longtime friend, industry professional, and former Olympic shooter—insisted. He told me he hadn’t encountered a shotgun this compelling in years. What intrigued me most was his description: an all-CNC-machined receiver, crafted from billet in a brand-new manufacturing facility, faithfully modeled after a Perazzi/Boss design. I ventured out to shoot, disassemble, measure, and assess the firearm in every conceivable way, in order to provide my honest opinion. What I discovered exceeded every expectation. The fit and finish were remarkable. The surface finish of the mono blocks looked polished yet came straight off the CNC machines—a true testament to precision machining and steel quality. The barrels, often a weak point where corners get cut, were outstanding. Backbored, chrome-lined, and equipped with a full set of extended chokes, they measured perfectly. Their weight distribution mirrored a Perazzi, but modern assembly eliminated the delamination issues that have plagued so many over the years. The result was an 8–8.5lb shotgun that balanced perfectly on the hinge, had exceptional weight distribution, and felt lively in the hands. The inertia triggers were crisp, and the barrel selector was correctly placed—small but crucial details done right. Then came the field test. I took the shotgun to the clays course, knowing full well that even a well-crafted shotgun can fail to inspire confidence in its breaks or reveal flaws that leave you wanting more. This gun, however, had no shortcomings. The recoil was linear and comfortable, making it pleasurable to shoot. Its handling wasn’t just similar to a Perazzi—it was identical. That distinctive liveliness was unmistakable. To truly test its performance, I took it to a doubles trap session. Doubles trap is my ultimate "acid test" for a shotgun—there’s no margin for error, and flaws reveal themselves quickly. The Pro Star passed with flying colors. I was so impressed that I became the first dealer in the U.S. to place an order. For those who know me, this is significant—I carry only a select few brands I respect, and I rarely add new ones. My reputation is my business, and I take that very seriously. Now, let’s talk about the fun part: real Turkish walnut. Shotgun stocks labeled as “Turkish walnut” come from all over the world, but one look at these and you’ll immediately recognize their authenticity. The wood is stunning—a true dream. The metalwork is equally impressive, with excellent bluing, nickel and case color finishes. When people ask, “Is this the same gun sold by Academy?” the answer is a resounding no. This shotgun has absolutely nothing to do with that entry-level line. Zero. Yes, most competition shotguns borrow from existing designs—Krieghoff/Remington 3200, Perazzi/Boss/Kemen/Fabbri—they all share roots. But what truly matters are the details: materials, tolerances, fit and finish, handling, true right- and left-hand dimensions, regulation, collimation, recoil characteristics, and service after the sale. This is the story of how the Pro Star came to me—and why I am proud to represent it. — August M. Crocker Price: POR Contact Seller |
