Winchester Model 12 Trench Gun 12 Ga./ w/Bayonet and Scabbard c. 1945
Description: This is a Model 12 Trench Gun (serial #1018352) with Winchester bayonet and scabbard, 12 gauge, circa 1945. With it’s compatriots, it was made to supplement the Model 1897. It is the earlier version, finished in high polish commercial blue, before the Parkerized finish was utilized at the end of WWII. It has the ordnance “U.S.” and flaming bomb on the right side of the receiver, ordnance bomb on the on the barrel and crossed cannons inspectors mark on the left butt stock. The hand guard has four rows of vents and is marked with a “W” on the left front bayonet barrel lug. The bayonet is also Winchester 1917 manufacture and so marked.
Considering the age and use of the Trench Guns, this Model 12 is in exceptional condition with better than 98% of it’s original blue. The stocks are in similar condition, with the fore arm showing some finish wear. A Winchester recoil pad has been added, but the rubber cover butt pad from original manufacture is included. Factory complete and correct Trench guns are a scarce commodity, especially in such nice condition.
