WINCHESTER MODEL 24 DOUBLE. SCARCE 20 GAUGE. ALL ORIGINAL & EXCELLENT CONDITION. 26" IMP CYL & MOD barrels. Deep blue overall with only a small 1/2" X 1/8" area or light corrosion on the left side of receiver and a smaller 3/16" circular patch of surface staining on top of right chamber. Both spots likley from poor storage at some point, because remaining blue is excellent with no handling wear even on the bottom of receiver. Walnut stock is dark and tight-grained with some nice figure in the grip and forearm. Varnish is excellent overall with a few small light handling marks. Buttstock has 1/2" X 3/4" well-repaired oval fill at top adjacent to buttplate. Buttplate is original Winchester resin or plastic buttlplate in perfect condition. Bores are mint bright and shiny. Action is smooth and rock solid, and new-gun tight. Breech block shows no shell imprints, which also evidence that this shotgun hasn't been fired much at all. Often called the Poor Man's Model 21, most of these field-grade guns were manufactured in 12 gauge, and most have seen a lot of use over the decades and show lots of wear.
