Winchester model 12 20 gauge skeet gun
Description:
This model 12 is a solid rib, black diamond, 20 gauge skeet gun, that was, I believe, made in 1947. Like about all of them, it had a Cutts compensator added. 26" barrel. Skeet choke tube. Bright bore. Slick smooth action. I've had this gun for 35 years. I shot some skeet & sporting clays with it and loved the gun, also shot quail with it and it was deadly. Great patterns. I restocked it with a straight grip stock many years ago, then switched the stock to my 28 ga. The original black diamond stock was put on another gun. I put a plain walnut Boyd's stock on it. Bluing is 80%. The gunsmith who installed the cutts, removed the skeet choke designation on the barrel and touched the area up with cold blue. Easily redone. The original forend has some areas where the burl wood knots came out, along with some use marks, but is sound. Would be easy to fill with pigmented epoxy on refinish.
not much else to say about this classic old skeet gun. I'm making some room in the safe by selling a few guns I no longer shoot. I have a modified tube for it around here someplace but couldn't find it. If I do, I'll send it to the buyer of the gun. I always used the skeet tube. Takedown mechanism is tight as new. $55 insured priority shipping in the lower 48.
