The Winchester Model 1912 (also known as the Model 12 or M12) became a instant hit on its introduction. Based on a John Browning design using a sliding forearm or "pump action" to cycle the mechanism making for rapid operation, the gun earned the epithet of "the perfect repeater."
Here we have an example of the famous Model 12 upgraded to Pigeon grade gun fitted with a solid rib and in beautifully restored condition. This custom ordered deluxe pump looks the part of a sportsman's gun, upgraded with jeweled lifter and bolt, a receiver with engraved hunting scene with gold embossed dogs, game and inlet borders surrounded by intricate scrollwork, which continues along the breech and onto the trigger guard. With a barrel showing a mirror finish bore and choked full, weighing 6lb 11oz and with a trigger that does not stack but just breaks cleanly at 4.3lb, this shotgun it is ready to shatter clays all day long.
These guns where made with highly figured stocks with selected wood used for the skeet style forend. This example has matching American black walnut furniture with perfectly executed checkering, finished with an alluring satin rubbed oil finish making for an elegant and rare find.
