For many years the model 53 has been the "flagship" of the AYA line of fine SXS shotguns. Col Charles Askins in his SHOT GUNNERS BOOK calles AYA Model 53, "probably the best buy on a side- by- side anywhere....."
This one was made for the American market. It is elaborately hand-engraved with PG, semi-beavertail forend. ventilated rib. SST and selective automatic ejectors. This fine double was made in 1965. There are no dings or scratches on the wood. Shinny bores , beautiful engraving on the side locks and receiver. This gun is extra tight because it has not used enough. When I got the gun, I had trouble openeing it. A Spanish gun enthusist said all fine doubles are that way until "broken in." I practiced putting the bore end on a rug and continue opening and closing it for many times. It finally loosen up some as the metal wore into place. I did fire it and everything works should. The AYA SST is one of the best on Spanish double guns. This fine double is priced to sell!
