Piotti Olympic Skeet 12 Gauge
Description: Armeria F.lli Piotti, Gardone V.T. Brescia-Italy 12 Gauge Wirnheir Spezial Skeet model made in 1972. German Konrad Wirnheir won a Bronze Medal in Skeet at the 1968 Olympics and a Gold Medal in 1972. He had input into the design of these guns of which only a small number were produced. This gun manufactured in 1972 with 27 1/2" Sk/Sk Phonix Steel vent rib ejector barrels. File cut 11mm vent rib with Bradley type front bead. Lengthened forcing cones. Bores are .735 on the top and .733 on the bottom with reverse chokes of .047 top and bottom similar to the reverse Sk1 choke of the Model 21 Winchester. French silver receiver has 95% coverage of delicate scroll engraving by Stefano Muffolini and signed. Pierced top lever and single non-selective trigger. Stocked in highly figured burl Turkish Walnut with Monte Carlo comb, Prince of Wales grip, and 32 LPI checkering. LOP is 14" from rear position single trigger over an 11/16" leather covered pad. The leather pad does exhibit some cracking but good for many more miles. DAC-1 1/2" DAH-2 1/2" (as measured as an extension of the Monte Carlo). This is an outstanding piece by one of Italy's and the world's finest gunmakers. It is a purpose built piece but would be suitable for upland birds and early season pheasants. It remains in very good condition with 97% blue, 96% checkering, and 98% stock finish. Barrels ring and top lever to the right of center. Ejectors strong and well timed. Excellent value.
