Description:
Handsome and great handling Joseph Lang 12 bore non-ejector Pigeon Hammer Gun with 32” nitro steel barrels and a tapered crosshatched rib. The action has sideclips and a hidden third fastener. The low rebounding hammers sit below the shooter’s line of sight when cocked. Additionally, the action can be opened with the right barrel in the cocked position. Best quality full coverage engraving with some residual case coloring. This Lang pigeon gun, no. 13153, was made in 1899 and is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. Presented in its canvas & leather case with maker’s label and crystal oil bottle. Weighs 8lb 1oz.
The 32” nitro steel sleeved barrels were proofed for 2-3/4” shotshells in London in 2021. They are topped by a raised solid tapered crosshatched rib with a gold front bead. The rib is inscribed “Joseph Lang and Son – London”. The right barrel is bored 0.727 with a constriction of 0.033 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.035. The left barrel is bored 0.728 and has a constriction of 0.034 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034.
The straight grip stock and forearm are made of highly figured walnut with a satin hand rubbed oil finish and a brown leather covered recoil pad. The checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 15-1/8” including the 1-1/8” leather pad by 1-1/4” by 1-5/8”. Slightly cast off for the righthanded shooter.
