Pair of 1901 Mfg. James Purdey & Sons Best Sidelock Ejector shotguns wearing 28 inch Blued side by side barrels, stunning case colored and hand engraved receivers numbered #1 and #2 in Gold inlay. Solid ribs with straight English stock with 20 line per inch chechering in English Walnut furniture. Gun appears to have been restocked. Double triggers ,LOP To front trigger is 15.25 inches and 14.50 inches to the rear trigger. Checkered wood butt plate.  Fixed choke barrels with gun #1 being :Modified and Improved Cylinder. Gun #2 is choked : Imp. Cylinder and Imp. Cylinder. Single bead sight. This fine shotguns come in a study leather motor coach case with two Purdy cleaning kits and Purdy snap caps. The leather case has an insulated leather and canvas outer zippered cover custom made by the Duluth Pack Company in Duluth MN.
Overall condition of the pair of sequentially numbered Purdy shotguns is excellent  with 98% or better of Blued and case colored finish remaining. The shotguns were used in driven game shoots with a reloader on these special hunts in Northern Mn. They are a piece of fine art in steel & wood from the craftsmen of 1901 London. Cases display original specs and different recommended loads for Ducks or Snipe as well as makers name and London address of Purdys.
This set is very special and wonderful to hold and swing on target.
