James Woodward best grade16 gauge snap action underlever double barrel shotgun side by side
Description: You don't see one of these too oftern. What a gem! A 16 gauge James Woodward sidelock extractor shotgun that is about as close to 6 lbs even as you can come. The gun originally had 31 inch barrels an was built as one of pair for General Sir Arthur Ellis in 1882. General Ellis was ettruary to the royal family and traveled to India in 1876 with Prince Edward. You can find additional information on line. Unfortunately she was put away wet many years ago in England years ago and then brought back to life at Elderkins in the 1970s. The barrels were sleeved, the comb of the stock was raised, and everthing else that was needed to get her back into good shooting condition was performed. I bought the gun several years ago and brought her across the pond and added the leather pad. Now, this gun is not in pristine condition by any means (see photos) but it shoots just like the $40,000 Woodward sweet sixteeens that you run into now and again. I'll bed it you closed your eyes you wouldnt' be able to tell the difference. The gun handles like a dream! SOLD Antique: Yes |
