Holland & Holland Dominion 12 Bore Back Action Sidelock Ejector - No. 2 of a Pair

Handsome, sturdy, and nice handling H&H Dominion no. 28739 with strong back action locks and residual case coloring on the lockplates and the inside of the forearm iron. Gun is in very good mechanical condition. Tight on face. Double triggers, automatic ejectors, nicely figured stock, Deeley forearm latch, auto safety. Made in 1914 and weighs just 6lb 5oz so easy to carry for a day afield.
The 28” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and proofed for 1-1/8oz loads. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low pressure 2-1/2” shotshells are being imported by Game Bore, ARMUSA(ClaysAmmo) and also available from RST(rstshells). The barrels are topped by a raised solid tapered concave gamestyle rib. The top of the right barrel is inscribed “Holland & Holland” and the top of left barrel is inscribed “98 New Bond Street, London”. The bores are shiny and bright; the bluing is in very good condition. The right barrel is bored 0.734 with a constriction of 0.007 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.023. The left barrel is also bored 0.734 and has a constriction of 0.014 for a tight Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026.
The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured European walnut. The checkering shows some wear and there are a few handling marks from normal usage. Stock dimensions are 14-1/8” including a thin ebony buttplate by 1-3/8” by 2”. Cast off for the righthand shot.
