Friedrich Krupp ~ SxS Pre-War German Mfg. ~ 16 Ga.
Description: Friedrich Krupp SxS 16 Gauge. 29 1/2" barrels, choked modified and modified (.013 & .015). Has a tapered and matted solid rib with a small silver beaded front sight. Chambers measure to 2 3/4". An extractor gun with double triggers. The action and barrels have modest engraving and include a pair of side-clips, and there are two locking lumps and a doll's head third bite. Action remains tight and mechanical function appears excellent. The safety is auto-resetting and the tigger-guard is made or real horn. The European walnut stocks are checkered, although worn, sports a splinter forend with push-button release and a cheek-piece butt-stock with a Pachmayr pad. Originally there were sling swivels attached to the butt-stock and under the barrels, but they have since been removed and a wooden plug was flush mounted to remaining hole in the butt-stock. At some point in the shotguns life, the stock was cut down to fit a smaller shooter, and later a piece of walnut was installed lengthening the stock for an adult shooter. The barrels are marked, "Special-Gewehr-Lauf-Stahl" and then three overlapping rings and then marked "Fried.Krupp.A.G./Essen". I've learned these markings translate to "Special Gun Barrel Steel", produced by the "Friedrich Krupp Company of Essen". Condition: Overall the shotgun is in fair to good condition, a fairly solid gun with near full coverage of barrel blue, though it is aging. The receiver barely shows any case color, it is mosty aged with light patina. The action locks up tight and the release lever is centered to the tang. Additional condition metal and bore comments in the bullet points. The wood appears to have been re-lacquered at least a couple of times based on the checkering looking thick with lacquer finish. There are numerous scratches and dings in the wood and a piece of wood missing from the right edge of the forend. The shotgun weighs 5 lbs., 15 oz., length of pull is 14 1/4" or 13 3/4" to wood, drop at comb is 1 3/8" and drop at heel is 2 5/8". There are a total of 13 photographs included in the ad, all can be seen on Cabela's Gun Library . SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: S/N 30XXX Pre-War. Caliber Info: 16 Gauge Chambers: 2 3/4 Metal Condition: Good but showing age, and the bottom of the left barrel has three small dings Wood Condition: Fair to good with numerous scratches and dings, and the butt-stock was shorten and later a piece of wood was attached to lengthen. Bore Condition: Good with light old pitting just ahead of the chambers Barrels: 29 1/2 Triggers: Double triggers. Stock Dimensions: LOP: 14 1/4" or 13 3/4" to wood. DAC: 1 3/8" & DAH: 2 5/8".
