It is said in the UK that of all the double guns built there before WWII that 90% were 12g. guns.
The next most common gauge among the remaining 10% were 20g. guns, the next were 16g. guns , and the next .410 doubles.
Interesting that 28g. were the smallest and rarest gauge of guns built in the UK during this period.
This explains why they are so hard for us to find and why it is common when we are searching for them that when asking a dealer they often
say "Dont you know that 28g. guns made in the UK are rare as rocking horse shit?" *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 5366 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection.

Description: Boxlocks - Built between the wars (1928) this little 28g. has many hard-to-find features as well as wonderful wood and engraving. The game scene engraving, the high grade wood, and the long length of pull make this petite flower a rare find. Wilkes was a highly respected London gun maker.
