Here we present a Bayard Arms Company, manufactured by Henri Pieper, Double Barrel Side by Side Shotgun, made at the turn of the 20th Century in Belgium. Bayard was the name of legendary bay horse of Charlemagne and was used by the Pieper company as a trademark. Henri Pieper was a German born gunmaker in Belgium. He began in Liege in 1866 under the business name “Anciens Etablissements Pieper”. The rapid growth of his early business was partly due to an excellent decision to purchase a barrel factory in Nessonvaux. Some of Remington’s finest double shotguns of the time have the maker’s mark of “HP” on them from this factory. Wells Fargo will forever be remembered as a stagecoach thundering across the American West, loaded with gold. The history of this company spans for over 160 years and is rich in events that have happened throughout the history of the United States. From the Gold Rush, through the Great Depression, and continuing today, Wells Fargo has travelled through the history of America as one of its greatest companies. The overall condition is good.
