HOPKINS & ALLEN Falling Block 12 gauge Single Barrel C&R Sporting SHOTGUN
Made Circa the early 1900s in Norwich, Connecticut
Description: HOPKINS & ALLEN Falling Block 12 gauge Single Barrel C&R Sporting SHOTGUN Made Circa the early 1900s in Norwich, Connecticut Here we present a Hopkins & Allen Arms Company Falling Block Shotgun, manufactured in Norwich, Connecticut circa 1898 to 1916. Hopkins & Allen is probably best known for manufacturing all manner of entry level firearms in the late 19th Century. However, they were in fact a subsidiary company of Merwin, Hulbert, & Co. or Merwin & Hulbert, an American firearms designer and marketer based in New York City. This design utilized the falling block action which was very popular in the mid-to-late-19th Century, made especially famous by Christian Sharps with his rifles and carbines around the time of the Civil War. This would have been a working man’s hunting shotgun for fowl or forest game at the turn of the century. The overall condition is good. Original blue barrel finish. Excellent action. The smooth bore contains some light scattered pitting and remains in good shape. Solid stock. Two small cracks round the pistol grip and remain stable. Rigid wrist checkering. Markings are sharp. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 30-3/8 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Chamber: 3 inches. Choke: Modified LOP: 14 inches Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
