The original HRBP is near perfect. This is your chance to get a decent example of a very hard to find American doublegun for your collectioon at a very reasonable price.
Among the lesser known American doubleguns the Wilkes-Barre stands out for its quality of design and workmanship. It was formed in1889 when a group of local businessmen and a German born gunmaker named Charls Roth in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania acquired the bankrupt Parry Firearms Co. of Ithaca, NY. For the sum of $50.000. All patents, machinery, materials, and guns were moved to Wilkes-Barre.
The company was formed with a capital of $75, 000 and 30 employes. Parry hammer-guns in-work were finished and marketed under the Wilkes-Barre name and production of a hammerless gun made on Joseph Tonks patents #333,795 Jan. 5, 1886, and #514,574 Feb. 13, 1894. On the order of 2000 guns were made in 3 years of production. The assets of the company were sold at in October 1895 to the Ithaca Gun Company. The design, material, and workmanship of this gun is on par with Fox or LC Smith.
