Description: Make: Savage Model: 726 Three Shot, similar to Browning Auto 5 Serial Number: 40038 Year of Manufacture: 1931 - 1949 Caliber: 12 Guage, 2 3/4" Chamber Action Type: Long Recoil Operated Semi-Auto Shotgun fed by Tubular Magazine Barrel Length: 28" Choke: Fixed Sights/Optics: The front sight is a mounted bead on a small riser fixed to the barrel above the muzzle. The top of the reciever is serrated to help reduce the glare. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut featuring a finger-grooved forend, a semi-pistol grip, a fluted straight comb and a black hard buttplate. The wood stock show light to moderate scuffs, nicks, scratches, compressions and handling and storage marks. There is a chip in the forend just in front of reciever above the serial number. The checkering is mostly well defined with minor scratches. Type of Finish: Blue Finish Originality: Original Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with some light erosion. In this writer's opinion and for the age, this bore rates a 9/10.
