J.P. Sauer 12 Ga Model 45E – PRUSSIA, 1912, 6LBS. 7OZ., vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: J.P. Sauer, c1912, 12 Gauge, 6lbs. 7oz., Chokes IC/IM, LOP 14 3/16", DAH 2 5/8", DAC 1 5/8" Serial Number: 134464 J.P. Sauer & Sohn have been makers of fine firearms for nearly 3 centuries, producing some of the most ornate, and well-engineered shotguns you will find. To most collector/shooters recognize the Prussian made guns are the most desirable, finest made and engraved guns from the era built anywhere in the world. Review the photos of this fine example and you will see why. Externally the gun exhibits the finest in fit and finish, with elaborate tiny scroll floral engraving, deeply chiseled fences, well figured French walnut mated to perfection to the frame, finely engraved steel grip cap, skeleton steel butt plate highly engraved, perfect ornately engraved screws, and Krupp Special Steel barrels reserved only for Sauer’s highest-grade guns mounted with double ivory beads. A super strong action with 7 LOCKING POINTS TO INCLUDE DOUBLE UNDERLUG BITES, GREENER CROSSBOLT, RIB EXTENSION, 2 SIDECLIPS, AND BARREL LUG THROUGH THE ACTION all come together to make a set of barrels that are stable on the action. The interior mechanics are highly finished and precise. See the photos and you will note the superior design and finish. From the safety mechanism, intercepting safety sears, to the triggers, and ejector system, the gun stands above any I have examined. This gun was purpose built for the American market with the “PRUSSIA” stampings on the water table of the action and barrel flats, built as a “brush gun” with 26” lightweight barrels choked IC/IM, weighing just 6lbs. 7oz., and no swivels on the barrel or stock. This gun, serial number 134464 built around 1912, is in superb condition, with the engraving still sharp and clear, wood-to-metal fit is flawless, barrels have no dents or dings, mirror bores, 2 ¾” chambers with 1 ½” long forcing cones (altered by VFI gunsmiths, a $440 service in our shop), fit tight on hinge and breech face, triggers delightfully crisp, ejectors strong and well timed, everything in perfect working order. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. IT HAS BEEN STRIPPED TO ITS SMALLEST PART, CLEANED IN THE ULTRASONIC CLEANER, EACH PART INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, PROPERLY LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED. This is a $450 service in our shop. Review the photos and you will see a stunning high-art Prussian made J.P. Sauer upland gun that needs nothing but a new home and a date for the field or clays course. The gun balances dead on the hinge pin and has dynamic handling characteristics not found in modern guns until you get to truly high-dollar guns. Look closely at the engraving on the action, grip cap, trigger guard, and butt plate…this is from a period when the finest gunmakers were building guns that have lasted 113 years so far and have many lifetimes of use remaining if cared for. The value of high condition top of the line J.P. Sauer & Son is only going up, so this is an investment that will increase in value as you enjoy its use. See the specifications below.
