Description:
This is a beautiful all-original Ruger Red Label 20 Gauge over and under shotgun in minty, like-new condition and complete with the original box, owner's manual, warranty card, and assorted box inserts.  This Ruger Red Label is one of the early production models manufactured in 1981 with all of the metal parts finished in a factory gloss-blue finish.  The Ruger Red Label is considered by many to be one of the finest American-made mass-production over and under shotguns made in the last 50 years.  While the design is very clean and simple, the Red Label has very handsome lines and is very well-proportioned to whatever gauge the gun is chambered in.  These shotguns are extremely well-made and reliable, and the actions are exceptionally strong and durable.  Many shooters consider this model to have one of the strongest actions ever devised.  The Ruger Red Label shotgun features automatic ejectors, vent-rib barrels, 3" inch chambers, a single selective trigger, an automatic safety (safety automatically slides "ON" when the barrels are opened), a checkered American Walnut pistol-grip stock set, and a factory-installed Ruger-branded red recoil pad.  As mentioned earlier, this particular example is chambered in 20 gauge and has 26" inch barrels that are choked "Improved Cylinder" and "Modified" (perfect choke combination for a do-it-all shotgun). This Red Label is really in superb condition and appears to have been fired very, very little.  If it has even had a full box of 25 shells fired thru it since leaving the factory we would be surprised.  The factory gloss blue finish rates 98% plus, with literally the only deduction coming from the minor finish wear around the barrel selector / safety on the upper tang.  Most of this was probably there when it left the factory from fitting the selector/safety.  The rest of the receiver and barrel group are flawless and like-new.  There are no carry marks on the underside of the receiver, and the face of the receiver shows zero mechanical wear.  The bores in both barrels are mirror-bright and pristine, showing no dents, bulges, pitting, scratches, dings, or imperfections of any kind.  The factory ventilated rib is in perfect condition as well, with perfect 100% intact joints to the barrel and no dents or damage.  The oil-finished and checkered American Walnut stock set on this Ruger is beautiful and in excellent condition.  The finish is fully intact and uniform, the checkered panels on the forearm and wrist are crisp and clean, and all of the stock hardware is in excellent condition.  The wood is completely free of any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage, and outside of a few tiny little storage marks both the forearm and buttstock are in perfect shape.  The factory-installed recoil pad on this Red Label was perfectly fit to the gun and just like the gun itself, is in like-new condition.  The internal mechanics in this Ruger are just as pristine as the exterior.  The barrel lock-up is perfectly tight and 100% on-face with no wiggle, the automatic ejectors and barrel selector/safety are in perfect working order, and the trigger breaks nicely with a light pull and has a quick reset.  As you can see from the pictures, the action lever still sits to the far right side of the upper tang with the barrels closed, indicating that the locking lugs are like-new with no wear whatsoever.  This Ruger still has 99% plus of it's service life in it.  There is ZERO doubt that this Red Label will still function just as perfectly today as it did the day it left Ruger's factory 40 years ago.  As mentioned before, this Ruger comes complete with it's original box and all of the box inserts it shipped with.  It isn't very often that we get 20 gauge Ruger Red Labels in the shop in just good to average used condition let alone all-original minty examples like this one, as 99% of these shotguns were bought to be used.  If you have been looking for a Ruger Red Label for your collection that is in truly exceptional condition inside and out, this is it!  It would be all but impossible to upgrade from this early-production beauty in any respect.
