World War II ORDNANCE U.S. Marked WWII Remington Model 11 “RIOT” SHOTGUN
U.S. MILITARY Shotgun with PARKERIZED FINISH
Description: World War II ORDNANCE U.S. Marked WWII Remington Model 11 “RIOT” SHOTGUN U.S. MILITARY Shotgun with PARKERIZED FINISH Here we present a U.S. World War II Remington Model 11 Semi-Automatic Riot Shotgun, manufactured June of 1943. At its inception, this shotgun became the first auto-loading shotgun to be produced in the United States. In 1911, the shotgun was named the “Remington Model 11” and roughly 850,000 guns went on to be sold all the way through 1947 with about 65,000 being produced during WW II. Initially, it was only available in 12 gauge chambering, though 16 and 20 gauge models came along during the years of 1931-1932. The Model 11 was one of the many shotguns used by American forces during World War II. During the conflict, U.S. war-planners procured all manners of weaponry, and the U.S. was one of the few nations that went to war with the firepower of the combat shotgun, which included the “Remington Army Model 11” issued to both frontline combat and guardsmen for anti-riot and prisoner guarding duties. The stock is marked “FJA”, which stands for Frank J. Altwood. Lt Col Frank J. Atwood was assigned to the Rochester Ordnance District and had sole responsibility for inspecting and accepting or rejecting all war material that was produced or manufactured under Government contract in this district from mid-1942 through early 1946. The overall condition is near fine. Original military finish. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright and smooth. The stock is solid. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
