Remington Model 11-48, 20-Gauge, Autoloading Shotgun
Description: Remington 11-48, 20-gauge, autoloading shotgun with high gloss, checkered walnut stock and forend; a blued 28-inch barrel, a 2¾-inch chamber, and muzzle sight bead. The length of pull is 14 inches. The drop at the comb is about 2 inches. The drop at the heel is about 2½ inches. As there are no date codes of this Remington shotgun and not box with the date of manufacture, I cannot determine the age of this gun. However, given its condition, I would guess that it was manufacture near the end of the Model 11-48 manufacture period, which ran from 1948 through 1968. The serial number of the barrel matches the that of the receiver. There are no box, papers, or other accessories with this gun. This 55+-year-old shotgun has been taken very good care. Its condition is 95+ percent. The barrel is 100 percent with a bright, shiny bore; it has no marks or other blemishes of any kind. The receiver and trigger guard are also 100 percent, with no marks or blemished. The forearm is in new condition with one issue – on the right side of the forend, just behind the magazine cap, there are three parallel dents; it looks like the finish was melted. Two of the dents are less than half an inch each by less than a quarter inch. The third dent is less than an inch by about a quarter of an inch. I don’t think any are through the finish and into the wood. There are no other marks on the forearm. The checkering is deep, crisp, and unmarred. The stock is the reasons for my overall rating of 95+ percent. It as a few minor nicks and scraps. The finish on the top, belly, and right side of the stock are in very good condition. The finish of the left side of the stock, however, has some dulling as though something was spilled on it, maybe a little solvent or something. The checkering on both sides of the stock is deep, crisp, and unmarred; the checkering of the stock looks new. My rating of 95+ percent is due to condition of the stock, particularly the dulling on the left side of the stock. The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details. Contact me for additional photos of any area you would like to see or see better. The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($45) and insurance ($8.60) per the USPS .
