Remington Model 1894 10-Gauge, Grade B, High Condition, Mfg. 1899
Description: This Remington Model 1894 10-gauge Grade-B waterfowler was manufactured in 1899. The receiver retains faint case-color on the sides and top, and it is unblemished by pitting or scratches. The locks and other mechanical parts have been fully serviced. The engraving on the Grade-B gun is limited, but it remains crisp on this gun. The stock is made of grained English walnut with figure, and it shows good contrast against a multi-tonal background. The stock and forearm wood are reconditioned by drawing-out accumulated petroleum-based oils and restoring the natural oils through the application of a hand-rubbed stock-oil finish. The DAC is 1-7/8” and the DAH is 2-7/8”. The length of pull is 14” to the back of the original hard-rubber buttplate. The cast is neutral. The 30” barrels are made of fine (3-bar) Damascus-steel. They retain the original finish and are in excellent condition. The bores are bright and without any pitting. The chambers are 3” and both barrels are choked extra-full (.045). The bore diameters are both .795, and the outside diameters at the muzzle are .872. The wall thicknesses of the right barrel measured at 9” from the breech are (top/side/bottom) .040/.043/.040, and at the middle of the barrel are .048/.056/.060. The wall thicknesses of the left barrel are .035/.032/.040 and .048/.049/.062. respectively. The gun weighs 8 pounds 7 ounces. Both triggers pull at 3-1/2 pounds of pressure. The gun locks up tightly. All serial numbers, 112579, match. The price does not include shipping cost, which is paid by buyer. The inspection period is 7 days from receipt. This gun has been fired using RST low-pressure shells. However, as for any antique or vintage shotgun, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by his or her gunsmith before firing, and then only use shells that produce the pressure for which the gun was designed.
