Remington M-878 Automaster 12ga 2 3/4" 28" mod plain bbl 3shot auto circa 1959-62


Description:
We have a rather unusual Remington three shot auto called the model 878 only produced 1959-62 as an entry level auto shotgun, priced below the Remington model 58 with the engraved receiver and checkered wood..This one has plain uncheckered wood and no receiver embellishments- simply says Remington Automaster Model 878 and the serial number 17703L and the right side is clean except for the ejection port. It has been test fired for function and works as it should. The barrel is the same as the remington 58 and the gas piston assembly looks the same- the stocks are interchangable with the remington 58 as well. The bolt release is the magazine button depressed slightly when the bolt is locked to the rear- single shot just toss a cartridge in the open port and push the magazine button slightly with your thumb. Stocks look as they have been the victum of too much sanding, likely to sand out dents and scratches in the wood as there are none now- just plain walnut.. Metal is nice, retaining most of the factory blue- bore is bright and shiny with no pitting anywhere that was observed.
