Remington 3200 Over/Under Shotgun, with Four-Barrel Skeet Set - 12, 20, 28, and 410 Gauges
Description: Remington 3200 over/under shotgun with four-barrel skeet set in 12, 20, 28, and 410 gauges, with metal carry case. The overall condition of this gun is 98 percent. The finish on metal and wood is all original. See separate barrel descriptions below. The lock box, tang, and trigger are 95+ percent, with a very minor amount of bluing wear on the bottom right front of the box and some on the tang and trigger guard. The box is engraved on both sides with a hunting dog surrounded by a floral pattern. The bottom of the box is engraved with Remington 3200 and the serial number. The forearm is in excellent condition, 98+ percent, with no signs of wear and no mars or scratches. Though the forearm wood looks like an exact match to the stock, the interior metal forearm locking part bears a different serial number. Judging by minor marks on the screws, it does appear that the locking part has been removed at one time. Perhaps the metal part is not original, which would account for the different serial number. The stock is in similar condition as the forearm, also 98+ percent. The checkering on the grip and forearm is deep and fine with no damage. The brown rubber recoil pad is labeled “Decelerator”. The length of pull of this gun is 14 inches. The drop at comb is 1 5/8 inches, while the drop at the heel is 2 inches. We believe this gun came with one 12-gauge barrel; its serial number matches the lock box. We believe that the 28-gauge and .410 barrels, both of which were made by Simmons Gun Specialties, Inc., as engraved on the left side of the two ribs, were made for this gun, as both bear the same serial number as on the lock box and 12-gauge barrel, along with another independent serial number. It is possible they were made at different times, as one was may in Olathe, Kansas, and the other in Kansas City, Missouri, but both by Simmons. We believe the 20-gauge barrel was possibly ordered for this gun from Remington, possibly supplied from stock existing at the time, as it is engraved with the same information and in the same manner as the 12-gauge barrel, but it bears a different serial number. Descriptions of the barrels follow: 12 Gauge Skeet Ported 25 ½ inches, including chamber 2 ¾ inch shells or shorter Ventilated rib Extractors Serial number matches the lock box Left-side, top barrel engraving: "12 GA. 2 ¾ OR SHORTER SHELLS" "SKEET" (engraved further back, near the chamber area) Right-side, top barrel engraving: "REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. ILION NY. U.S.A" "PATENT PENDING" "SKEET" (engraved further back, near the chamber area) Two sights – muzzle (white, probably plastic) and mid-barrel (brass) Condition: 98+ percent. Some minor scratches caused by and hidden by the forearm. Bores are in excellent condition 20 Gauge Skeet 27 3/4 inches, including chamber 2 ¾ inch shells or shorter Ventilated rib Extractors Serial number does NOT match the lock box Left-side, top barrel engraving: "20 GA. 2 ¾ OR SHORTER SHELLS" "SKEET" (engraved further back, near the chamber area) Right-side, top barrel engraving: "REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. ILION NY. U.S.A" "PATENT PENDING" "SKEET" (engraved further back, near the chamber area) Two sights – muzzle (white, probably plastic) and mid-barrel (brass) Condition: 98+ percent on both sides of both barrels and on the belly of the bottom barrel. However, under the rib and on the surfaces between the barrels, are less-than-perfect bluing that runs most of the length of the barrels. However, these surfaces are as smooth to the touch as any other portion of the barrels. This looks like factory work. Bores are in excellent condition 28 Gauge Skeet 25 ½ inches, including chamber 2 ¾ inch shells or shorter Ventilated rib Extractors Serial number matches the lock box, but has a second number, as well. We think this indicates the maker of the barrel, Simmons Gun Specialties, Inc. (see note on engraving, below) made this barrel for this particular shotgun. Neither barrel has any engraving, except “SKEET” near both chamber areas. The left side of the rib is engraved with, “SIMMONS GUN SPECIALTIES INC. KANSAS CITY, M” The left side of the chamber of the top barrel is engraved with: "28 GA 2 ¾ IN" The left extractor is engraved with, “28 GA” and “B” The right extractor is engraved with, “28 GA” and “T” Two sights – muzzle (white plastic) and mid-barrel (metal) Condition: 98+ percent, with a couple of tiny scratch under the forearm. Bores are in excellent condition. .410 Skeet 26 inches, including chamber 2 ½ inch Ventilated rib Extractors Serial number matches the lock box, but has a second number, as well. Like the 20-gauge barrel, we think this indicates the maker of the barrel, Simmons Gun Specialties, Inc. (see note on engraving, below) made this barrel for this particular shotgun. Neither barrel has any engraving, except “SKEET” near both chamber areas. The left side of the rib is engraved with, “SIMMONS GUN SPECIALTIES INC. OLATHE, KANSAS” The left side of the chamber of the top barrel is engraved with: "410 GA 2 ½ IN" The left extractor is engraved with, “410 GA” and “B” The right extractor is engraved with, “410 GA” and “T” Two sights – muzzle and mid-barrel (both white plastic) Condition: 98+ percent. Bores are in excellent condition. The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details. Contact me for additional photos or even higher resolution versions of the posted pictures.
