Built in 1925 for noted Newspaper mogul and philanthropist, Ira C. Copley of San Diego, CA. Gun built with 30" Whitworth barrels and proved for 1-1/4oz loads and has "matted rib" (very rare). Splinter forend. Gun is fabulously rose and scroll engraved and bold vivid original case color remaining. Gun built with hidden third fastener, double triggers, side-clips, auto safety. The straight grip buttstock is very nicely figured and terminates with an aging Silvers type pad. Gun is housed in its original matching numbers and "I.C.C." embossed case with original Purdey accessories remaining.
Ira C. Copley can be easily found with a quick google search and served 6 consecutive terms in the House of Representatives. Copley was a media/newspaper magnate as well. There is a fascinating Wikipedia entry on him which can be found here:

Overall, the gun remains in fantastic original condition with more than 95% bold original metal finishes remaining. Stocks are sound and excellent with some minor marks but retain more than 95% of their original finishes. The only thing that has ever been touched on the gun is the pad which is an aging replacement. The original pad had crystallized. The case is excellent as are the original accesories. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are perfect and gun is tight and on face.
