Matched pair of 12 gauge sidelock ejector side-by-side shotguns manufactured in 1930. Both blacked round 30" chopper lump black steel barrels with 2-1/2" chambers, choked Skeet, Improved Cylinder and Improved Modified and a tapered, smooth, concave game rib with a steel front beads. Ribs are engraved "J PURDEY & SONS. AUDELY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTHS FLUID PRESSED STEEL". The case colored hardened Beesley self-opening side ejectors action features disk set strikers, gas exhaust valves, cocking indicators, auto-safety and double triggers protected by an engraved blacked trigger guard ending in a long, engraved bottom tang. The blacked and engraved top levers are checkered on the left side and are engraved "1" and "2" respectively. "SAFE" is gold inlaid on top tangs ahead of the engraved and checkered safety slides. The guns have full coverage rose bouquets and scroll engravings with "J. PURDEY & SONS" along the bottom of each lockplate with a case color hardened finish. They are stocked with English walnut with drop points, straight hand grips, and ending with checkered butts. The splinter style forends have Anson style checkered push button releases.
