Goldani’s Engraving: Three centralized areas of the receiver display Italian Master Bautista Goldani’s magnificent rendition of his Italian version of rose and scroll as if presented in beautiful bouquets: where the onlooker’s eyes are drawn to their three key locations. These bouquets are so intricate and artfully executed, open space is needed to surround them to enhance and evaluate their compositions. Additionally, Goldani engraved very intricate border engraving defining every part in the surrounding coin-finished parts together with other blued areas: the safety/barrel selector, the operating lever, upper tang, trigger guard and trigger base, Anson & Deeley forearm release, and forearm iron. Finish: Receiver, upper, and lower tang are coin finished while all other metal parts are rust blued making a very pleasing contrast with the near-exhibition grade wood, tastefully executed. Trigger is gold. Inscriptions: When the action is open, left barrel flat is marked BI which is the Italian serialization code for 1997, the year it was made. The receiver wall is inscribed MX8L on one side and the serial number, 99450, on the other. The left side of the lower barrel’s chamber is inscribed “Perazzi Brescia Made in Italy” on the portion that rides just over the receiver when it is closed. Stock: For this special order, outstanding fancy Turkish walnut in SO grade was selected, shaped in classic style with round knob semi-pistol grip sporting stock and field forearm, chosen for its beautiful dark rich brown color, emblazoned with black figure. Hand checkering is classic point patterns, very fine at 32 lpi — executed on both grips connected at the wrist and around the forearm connected in design via V patterns. The maker’s name is subtly carved just above the forearm iron on the underside. Dimensions are 14 ½” x 1 3/8” x 2” with high-quality Leather-covered ¾” recoil pad. About the Maker: Armi Perazzi, located in Botticino, Brescia, Lombardy, Italy – a 20,000 square-meter production plant, in addition to Perazzi USA in Southern California. The history of the maker is a history of Daniele Perazzi. At 16 he began working at a large gunmaker in Val Trompia proving his talent and patenting his first model, the first of a long series of guns that bears his name. In 1957 at the age of 25, Daniele Perazzi founded Armi Perazzi, his own factory where he worked every day for many years, eventually joined by his son Mauro and his daughter Roberta, until his death in 2012. From the beginning Perazzi shooters achieved considerable success and the name and reputation of Perazzi became widely known. For 50 years Perazzi has built prestigious game and competition guns that are a fusion between traditional gunsmithing, high technology and the selection of excellent raw materials. Perfect balance and handling coupled with Perazzi’s innovations that have been made during this time have resulted in a gun suitable for every discipline and made the company a world leader in clay shooting. In the book, The Italian Gun, the authors toured Perazzi with Daniele and gave a detailed account (pp. 149-150) of this perfect balance of traditional gunsmithing, high technology and the selection of excellent raw materials, witnessing dozens of workers in orderly rows, CAD units, CAM centers, NC machines, CNC machines, robots, every state-of-the art machine developed for modern gunsmithing, and the traditional tools and craftsmen as well. They saw Turkish walnut blanks that Perazzi personally selected traveling four times a year to Turkey and a storage facility in the rear of the plant housing an inventory of thousands of these blanks.
