Built on a No. 1 frame with 2 sets of factory original barrels. Set 1 is 28" Titanic Steel and barrel flats with unstruck brl weight of 3lbs. 3oz. and top of forend lug stamped "1". Barrel Set 2 same as Set 1 except 30" in length, unstruck brl weight 3lbs. 5oz. and stamped "2" on forend lug. Matching splinter forends (One numbered to each barrel set) with lightly engraved steel tips, Deeley latch release & irons, and are checkered in standard DH mullered border pattern of the era. Forends are appropriately stamped with SN and "1" & "2". Casehardened boxlock receiver engraved in standard D Grade pattern of the era. Blued long tang trigger guard with burst of scroll on bow, SN at center of long tang. Made with nickel plated double triggers, extractors, auto safety. Beautifully figured straight grip walnut buttstock has carved teardrops behind receiver and is checkered in point pattern through the wrist, has silver oval on toeline, and terminates with its rare & original factory checkered butt. Accompanied by a PGCA letter describing the gun exactly as found today.
Overall the gun remains in excellent and all original condition showing some limited field use. Barrel sets retain 90-95% original blue. Forends are near excellent with minor impressions and handling marks. Frame retains more than 90% of its vivid original rainbow case color. Trigger guard with more than 70% of its flaking original blue. Buttstock is excellent and sound with scattered impressions mostly on left side. Checkering is mostly crisp. Bores are bright and shiny.
