Parker Reproduction A-1 Special 20-gauge, two barrel set.
This is a very special Parker Reproduction. Very early in the beginnings of Parker Reproduction Shotguns the owner, Tom Skeuse, asked Parker shotgun authority Larry Baer if he would take a look at prototype gun that Tom brought back from Japan. Mr. Skeuse was very particular and want his new reproductions to be as authentic as possible. After Larry’s scrutiny several changes were made before production until the guns were “just right”
Larry Baer was one of the very early authors on Parker Shotguns and a well-known “expert” on the subject of Parkers.
Larry did not want paid for his time and report back to Mr. Skeuse. So, Mr. Skeuse offered a in-the-white 20 gauge A-1 Special multi barrel Parker Reproduction to Larry to show his appreciation.
Larry Baer had his tables at the Las Vegas Antique Arms show directly behind my tables and my good friend Richard Brunings’s tables for years and we all became friends. During those shows Larry had the in-the-white 20 -gauge A-1 for sale. Richard agreed to purchase that 20-gauge two-barrel set on the condition that Larry engrave it. With much thought and a lot of coaxing Larry finally agreed to take on this major project and a year or so later Larry delivered the finished project to Richard.
Larry wrote and article about this gun that was published in the Shooting Sportsman March/April 2012 issue. The metal finish was done by Turnbull Restoration, true to Parker finishes.
This was the last complete gun engraving project done by Larry Baer before his passing in 2015 and this finished A-1 has sat, in its case, since then in Richard Bruning’s collection. I acquired the gun from my dear friend shortly before his passing in 2022.
Now it’s time for a new custodian of this Parker Reproduction legacy!
Absolutely new in the case configured with 20-gauge 26” IC/Mod & 28” M/F barrels, single selective trigger, splinter forearm, straight grip, skeleton butt.
