**SOLD** 1891 Vintage Parker Brothers Grade 0 12 Gauge Double Barrel w/ 30" Inch Damascus Twist Barrels & Fish Tail Lever
* All-Original Parker
Description: This is a very nice all-original antique Parker Brothers Grade 0 Double Barrel in 12 gauge with 30" inch Damascus Twist barrels and the unique "Fish Tail" top lever. This Parker was built in 1891 and remains in very good condition overall and is mechanically excellent. It has obviously lived a fairly easy life over the last 131 years. This Grade 0 is built on a size 1 frame and featured a case colored finish on the receiver, hammers, triggerguard, stock metal, and top lever, 30" inch fine Damascus twist barrels choked Full and Full with 2 & 5/8ths" chambers, a "Fish Tail" top lever, shell lifters, a silver bead front sight, and an American Walnut checkered pistol grip stock set with a varnished finish. This particular example is 100% original and it's configuration matches the Parker book perfectly. As you can see from the pictures it is a very handsome shotgun with some very nice original case colors still intact in multiple places on the exterior and the protected areas of the gun, and a very well-defined Damascus twist steel pattern visible on both barrels from the chamber to the end of the muzzle. All of the factory markings are still 100% visible and legible on both the receiver and barrels, and all of the original pins and screws in the gun are original and in very good to excellent condition. Both hammers are original and in great shape and both spring-loaded firing pins are in good working condition. Both locks are in perfect working order as are both triggers. The hammers will not depress forward from an uncocked position without depressing the triggers, and both hammers will fire properly only from the full-cock position. The 30" inch barrels are in very good condition overall and are beautiful on the exterior. The bores are bright, smooth, and clean and would be perfect if not for a few tiny dents in both sides. These little dents would not cause any issues with firing as long as the proper 2 & 5/8ths" black powder substitute ammunition is used. The action locks up tight and the barrels are perfectly "on face" with ZERO wiggle or movement of any kind. With the barrels closed the top lever rests right in the middle of the upper tang, indicating that this shotgun has been fired very little despite it's age and the locking block is in superb condition. The original stock set on this Parker is in very good condition overall. Both the buttstock and forearm are free from any cracks or repairs and show only minor handling and storage marks in the wood. The hand-cut checkering on the pistol grip and forearm is still intact with all of the lines still visible. The sharp points have all been worn down but both panels still provide a good purchase for your hands. As mentioned earlier, this factory stock set is totally original and has not been altered in any way. The original Parker Brothers buttplate is still intact and in good condition as-is the original pistol grip cap. The steel latch mechanism on the forearm is in perfect working order and is tight to the wood, and the protective steel forend tip is intact and in great shape. All of the metal to wood seams on this shotgun are tight and flush with each other. The triggerguard's rear tang is perfectly inlaid into the face of the pistol grip and the serial number that is stamped on the face is still fully legible. All of the serial numbered parts are matching including the receiver, barrels, triggerguard, and forend. All in all, this is a very nice and classy all-original antique Parker Brothers Grade 0. This shotgun would be an excellent addition to any antique shotgun collection and it is priced to sell!
