"Civil War Imported Brazilian Light Model 1857 Minié Rifle (AL5228)
Description: "Civil War Imported Brazilian Light Model 1857 Minié Rifle. Overall length is approximately 48". The 32" round .58 caliber barrel has no visible rifling. The barrel has a dark brown patina and wrench/vise marks at the breech. The lock and many other parts are marked with an anchor with “D" to the left and “C" to the right (this stands for the manufacturer, O.P. Drissen & Co.). The stock is good with issue use and no cracks or chips. These rifles are often encountered with an eagle escutcheon to the rear of the barrel tang (missing on this example but attachment holes are there). The nipple is missing. Action functions correctly, somewhere around 5000 to 6000 of these rifles were diverted to the U.S. for use by the Union during the Civil War. Here is your change to have a scarce Civil War imported Brazilian minié rifle – at a reasonable price. Price: $1,850.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
