* SOLD *1974 Vintage Marlin Model 120 Magnum 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun w/ 40" Factory Full Choked Barrel
** RARE 40 INCH BARREL! **
Description: This is a very neat vintage Marlin Model 120 Magnum pump-action 12 gauge shotgun with a RARE factory 40" inch full-choked barrel with a 3" inch chamber. This was the ultimate goose/duck/turkey or "turkey shoot" competition shotgun when it was made. No other American shotgun manufacturer was making a production barrel this long. This massively long shotgun is 59.5" inches long overall from the back of the recoil pad to the tip of the muzzle! The Marlin Model 120 Magnum was introduced in 1971 and remained in production until 1985, however the 40" inch barrel was only offered for 2 years between 1974 and 1975. The Marlin 120 Magnum earned a reputation for being a well-made and reliable pump shotgun regardless of barrel length. The design was very strong and durable while still being affordable. This particular example appears to have been used with a different barrel for most of it's life, as the receiver and stock set show more finish wear than the 40" inch barrel does. This was fairly common, as the 40" inch barrel was very specialized many 40" inch Model 120 Magnum owners purchased an additional barrel in a regular length to use for most shotgunning purposes. As mentioned earlier, the 40" inch barrel was used mainly for goose hunting, turkey hunting, and shotgun competitions called "turkey shoots". This Model 120 Magnum is in excellent mechanical condition and is 100% functional. The bore in the 40" inch barrel is mirror-bright and free from any pitting, dents, bulges, or defects of any kind. The action is smooth, slick, and locks up tight. All of the controls on this Marlin are in perfect working order. The original stock set shows some minor handling marks and wear but is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. The length of pull is 14" inches to the end of the recoil pad. This is a rare Marlin shotgun with this special barrel and would be an excellent long term investment in addition to being a lot of fun to shoot.
