L.C. Smith 12 Gauge - GRADE 1, 30" DAMASCUS BARRELS, MODIFIED & FULL CHOKE vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1908, 12 Gauge, 7lb 6oz, Chokes .020/.034, LOP 14", DAH 2 7/8", DAC1 13/16" Serial Number: 320283 A early twentieth Century advertisement from L.C. Smith begins: "In the No1 grade we have produced a gun thoroughly well made with all the latest improvements. For the price there is no gun on the market that is its equal. Thorough tests and long continued use in the field have proven its value." Here we offer the classic L.C. Smith No1. Simple yet elegant, workmanlike yet finished to a high level of craftmanship, the No1 shotgun was produced between 1890 and 1913, with over nine thousand made and by far the most popular was a 12 gauge gun with 30" barrels and extractors. Damascus steel was an option and this example pairs beautifully with the lockwork exhibiting over 90% original case coloring remaining but fading gracefully to silver. English Walnut stock and simple yet fine hand engraved lock plates and forend iron add just the right amount of delicate detail to this shotgun. This 1908 gun balances nicely at 1/2"+ and weighs 7lb 6 ounces. Choked MOD/ FULL its barrels show some light pitting near the chambers but otherwise nice and bright bores throughout. A tight hinge and breech tight on face with a lever sitting right of center, a crisp trigger pull of 3 and 3.5lb and a three position safety round out this great package. This great gun is priced to sell and is ready to get back to the upland fields, make it your latest addition today, enjoy.
