ITHACA Model 37 “Featherlight” SLIDE ACTION 12g Shotgun C&R with POLY CHOKE Manufactured in Ithaca, New York circa 1950
Description: ITHACA Model 37 “Featherlight” SLIDE ACTION 12g Shotgun C&R with POLY CHOKE Manufactured in Ithaca, New York circa 1950 Here we present a C&R Ithaca Gun Company Model 37 “Featherlight” Single Barrel Slide Action Shotgun, made circa 1950 in Ithaca, New York. The Ithaca Gun Company was originally established in Ithaca in 1880 and is still a manufacturer of shotguns and rifles. Designed by John Moses Browning, and originally manufactured in 1937, the Model 37 “Featherlight” has stood the test of time, providing generations of sportsmen with a reliable firearm for all types of hunting. Perhaps the most unique feature of Ithaca shotguns is the bottom ejection port. The ejection port works double duty for the shotgun. Here the hunter may load either 2-3/4 inch or 3 inch shells. When the shotgun action is cycled, the spent shells will discharge from this same port. The bottom ejection and loading port helps to maintain a clean barrel by protecting it from the weather and reducing the likelihood of rust. Snow, rain, and ice may be well-known companions in the duck blinds, but this feature helps to maintain a properly functioning firearm for many years to come. Left handers will appreciate the bottom ejection port on Ithaca shotguns because the spent shells will kick down and out, not across and into the face of a left-handed shooter. The forend is deeply grooved and has often been affectionately dubbed as a “corn cob” by hunters. Adding to the aesthetic charm, detail was given to the receiver with an engraved hunting scene on each side. The left side features three greenheads flying into a pond while the right side has a pointing dog afield with a pair of flying quail. The overall condition is good very good. Original blue finish. Some minor corrosion on the barrel. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright and smooth. The stock shows use and remains solid. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrels are 26 ¾ with the polychoke inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #240609 SOLD Antique: Yes |
