This custom best grade Francotte reeks of understated elegance, class and quality craftsmanship. From the hand-rubbed oil finished highly figured walnut with very fine & wonderfully executed checkering to the Boss/Sumner style rose bouquet and scroll fine engraving executed and boldly signed by Francotte's best engraver, Leonard Smeets circa 1950. The gun is in excellent superb original condition which is testimony to little use and being well cared for. Tight, on- face, strong ejectors, no dings, never saw rust. Wood is 98%+ and checkering sharp, no proud metal anywhere. DT with front articulated - rolled edge trigger guard for RH.
POW style open grip with 14 3/8 LOP to checkered butt (its not worn either!), Slight cast off and nice classic splinter game forend, finely and profusely checkered Barrels are 28 inch special chr/nickel ant corrosive steel and clearly marked as such. Chokes are 1/4 right and 3/4 left and also clearly marked on each barrel. There is one small surface blemish in the bluing on left barrel (pic included) which could be touched up a bit, otherwise metal is 98%, bores shiny and smooth, no dings or dents. The gun is like a 1950 time capsule, as I said, little use, no abuse and good care. I've only shot it once in last 11 years. I just have too many shotguns.
