Luigi Franchi Imperial Monte Carlo 12 GA in 99% Condition-Superb
Description: Factory MarioTerzi Signed and Engraved Luigi Franchi Imperiale Monte Carlo Extra Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun with non matching leather Merkel Case - Serial no. 15137, 12 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/bright coin finish, walnut stock. Blued Bohler Antinit steel barrels with a single steel bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, 1992 dated Italian proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays beautifully executed extensive Purdey style bouquet & scroll engraving covering nearly the entire surface, including the toplever, triggerguard, and both tangs. The triggerplate is signed "M. Terzi" to the right of the trigger, for Italian Master Engraver Mario Terzi. Many examples of Terzi's work on this particular model are illustrated and photographed throughout Chapter 1 of the authoritative work on the engraver "Mario Terzi Master Engraver" by Lamboy & Lamboy. The gun features bushed firing pins, a single Fabbri marked trigger, right hand rolled triggerguard, and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Highly figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button release, and a gold inlaid emblem with a coronet over "IMPERIALE MONTECARLO EXTRA". The equally highly figured straight grip stock features teardrop carved flats and a checkered bare butt. Includes a wood and leather Gebruder Merkel takedown case which I bought for this gun when acquired. I just never got around to putting a reproduction Luigi Franchi Label inside. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved and measured at 18.5mm (.728 inches); choke constriction .024/.042 inches; minimum wall thickness .032/.029 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 14 oz. Excellent, overall 99% original blue and bright coin finishes with minimal minor handling evidence and a few areas of very fine spotting. The wood is very fine with some dings and scratches and overall sharp checkering.. Mechanically excellent. Robust, heavy duty construction made to shoot pigeons, and to do it in style. This was made to digest a steady diet of 3 3/4 Dram 1 1/4 oz loads. It is both svelte, AND robust. Hard to find that in a shotgun. A wonderful opportunity to obtain an early work of one of Italy's top engravers. Personal checks or bank wires preferred. No tax. No other fees save for shipping of $150. Rarely do you have the opportunity to buy Ferraris at Maserati Prices. This is your chance to do exactly that. This is the best example that I know of currently on the market. If you can find one for less money, that is this good, buy it! I will be the first to congratulate you. Thanks again for your interest. Please call or email with any questions.
