Description: Presented here is an Ansley H Fox Field Grade side by side shotgun in 12 gauge. The 22 inch barrels have good bores, cylinder choked and the wood is very nice. In 1908, Fox gave the President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, a luxury shotgun worth about $500 with a Fox 'Grade F' double shotgun. He was responding to reports that Roosevelt would leave for the year-long Smithsonian-Roosevelt African Expedition in March 1909, a few weeks after his term expired. The A. H. Fox Gun Company advertised until the 1920s with the very popular Roosevelt. A. H. Fox made very high quality shotguns and had several patents in the automotive, tobacco and firearms industries.
