A "BENCHMARK" collector condition AH Fox A Grade shotgun
Description: This AH Fox A Grade 12ga shotgun is as good as it gets!! I have seen guns in their box that aren't in this fine condition. This gun comes to us from a respected collector of A.H. Fox shotguns. This gun is a Philadelphia marked Fox shipped in 1929. 30" barrels choked F & F. #2 wt marked bbls. Metal front bead. 2 5/8" chamb with my slide in gauge. RT bore .730 45K choke 33k mwt LT bore .730 43k choke 35K mwt Semi-pistol grip, original hard rubber buttplate with splinter forend. Very nice original dimensions... 14 1/4" LOP, 1 1/2" DAC, 2 5/8" DAC. Double triggers. Extractors. 7# 6oz. This Fox has nearly ALL of its original factory color case colors..receiver, toplever & forend latch! Usually the colors on the forend latch are the first to go from wear & handling & these colors are still prominent. The receiver & forend iron show strong deep colors with some minor high edge wear. Breech face shows very minimal evidence of firing. The original Fox factory blue is extremely strong and bright on barrels & trigger guard, basically showing minor handling marks only. Barrels show minor handling marks. Slight hairline scratching on underside of barrels ahead of forend likely from movement in a closet or cabinet. Small spot of wear on left muzzle and very minor wear at breeches. NO dings, dents in barrels. Mint bright mirror original bores. Strong crisp markings on top side & underside of barrels. Trigger guard/bow retains virtually all of its original bright blue. All screws appear perfect & untouched on this gun. Wood finish & checkering is remarkable. Traces of original varnish is evident (& correct) on edges of original hardrubber buttplate. Checkering sharp & untouched. No cracks, no chips. A couple of noticeable handling scratches in forend near forend iron. Does not detract. Buttstock with scattered light handling marks in finish. Top of heel shows a small area of minor finish loss likely from getting moved in & out from cabinet. Automatic safety. Mechanically as tight as new. Operates crisply. More photos on my site. This gun is a stellar example of an A grade AH Fox gun, one of the very nicest I have seen in my 40 years of collecting Foxes. Great opportunity priced right.
