John Dickson & Son 12 Bore Round Action Ejector – No. 1 of a Pair
Description: *** SOLD *** Round Action Dicksons are increasingly hard to source these days and MacNab is pleased to offer this recently refurbished Round Action with its crisp Sumner engraving. It was delivered to its original owner on 24 December 1901. What a stocking stuffer that must have been! Its patent use number is 874 and it has the improved ejectors that were introduced at the turn of the 20th century and the flowing Dickson banner on the side. The barrels, toplever, automatic safety button, and trigger guard have been expertly reblacked. The brushed finish on the action along with the highly figured French walnut stock and forearm make it a very handsome gun indeed. The gun is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Weighs 6lb 4oz. *** The 28” sleeved barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, Gamebore and ARMUSA have begun importing 2-1/2" English shotshells into the US so ammunition is available from them as well as RST Shotshells. The bores are shiny and bright and the bluing is in excellent condition. The barrels are topped by the original raised solid tapered concave gamestyle rib. The rib is inscribed “John Dickson & Son. 63 Princes Street. Edinburgh” but the inscription shows some wear. The right barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.004 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.024. The left barrel is also bored 0.732 and has a constriction of 0.008 for a light Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. An upland gunner’s dream choking. *** The straight grip stock and original forearm are made of nicely figured French walnut and the hand rubbed oil finish shows no wear. The stock appears to have been recently professionally restocked. The gold initial plate is blank. The checkered butt shows a few repairable dents. Stock dimensions are 14-1/16” including a checkered butt by 1-3/8” by 2-1/8*. Cast off for the righthand shot. *** If you have ever shot over a Scottish grouse moor then you already know why you should own this gun. Round Actions are scarce and time is short. Isn’t it time to reward yourself? *** Please note that the photographs are part of the description. Jam an FFL and require a copy of your dealer’s FFL license. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense. *** Come and see this great double and other fine shotguns at the MacNab booth at the Vintage Gunners Cup Championship & Exhibition on October 3rd – 5th at Hopkins Game Farm in Kennedyville, MD. *** Price: $8,990.00 Contact Seller |
