DAVID MCKAY BROWN 12 BORE – O/U, 30”, 99%, SINGLE TRIGGER, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: David McKay Brown, 2003, 12 Gauge, 7lbs. 5oz., Screw-in Chokes, LOP 14 5/8″, DAH 2 1/4″, DAC 1 5/16″ Serial Number: EEE7807 David Mckay Brown is a Scottish gunmaker that has garnered deep respect for building true round-action, trigger-plate guns in the tradition of John Dickson and other fine Scottish makers. Since 1967, he has built approximately 30 guns per year, with nearly all being made to order BEST GUNS for clients in the know. Most have been round action side x sides, until 1992 when he developed his unique over/under gun with a very shallow round action and true trigger plate firing mechanism. David McKay Brown has retired from his business (2021) and it is now in the capable hands of the Buchan Group and remains in Scottland. However, there are few David McKay Brown over/under guns that were built by the master himself. This fine David McKay Brown, snEEE7807 built in 2003, is a supreme example and still in near-new condition. It was shipped with 30” barrels, single trigger, Teague interchangeable chokes (10 in all), BLANK gold oval in stock, and a highly figured Turkish walnut stock set. The gun is perfect for the uplands or for your favorite clay target games. The full-coverage engraving is executed to perfection by Creative Art on coin finished receiver and furniture with shadowed background. The round action is mechanically excellent, with perfect screws, crisp trigger pulls, strong and well-timed ejectors, and deeply sculpted fences. The perfectly struck barrels retain 99% factory blue, mirror bores, solid rib, and lock tightly to the standing breech and hinge pin. The dark figured walnut is seamlessly melded to the action, the checkering surrounded by classic mullered borders, terminating in a traditional Purdey style leather covered pad. The gun weighs a svelte 7 pounds 5 ounces and balances perfectly 1/8” ahead of the hinge pin for a truly dynamic field gun that is lightning fast to shoulder and feels lighter than the scale depicts. To order this David McKay Brown over/under today with the single trigger, Teague interchangeable chokes, gold oval in the stock will cost over $100,000 U.S. dollars PLUS the export/import and VAT charges to get the gun to the States, totaling about $116,000 and take about 2 years to get into your hands. The David McKay Brown over/under has not changed since its inception in 1992, so it is the same gun that we have here, with its gold-washed trigger plate action and perfect execution, so why spend top dollar and wait 2 years to get your hands on one of the most desirable over/under game guns in the world? We are offering this hard-to-get David McKay Brown for immediate delivery at a very amicable price. VFI can custom fit a fine leather case to this gun with accessories and maker’s label, an interior of your choice, within 30 days of purchase. This David McKay Brown O/U was gun #1 ordered by Edward Elliot Elson, the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark from 1993 to 1998, hence the gold initials on the trigger guard bow and incorporated into the serial number. To most gunners this would be valuable and interesting provenance, but…if you wish to have this gun without the initials, we can accommodate your request and make the initials disappear for a reasonable charge. You will never know they were there if you choose this route. Please review the photos and call if you have any questions. Keep in mind we have 3 full-time talented gunsmiths that can alter the stock dimensions to your needs within days of purchase using state-of-the-art hot oil bending equipment to alter drop and cast to suit your needs. This gun will be your finest upland/clays gun. Don’t hesitate…life is short…write the check! Thanks for looking.
