This Colt 10GA Model 1878 double barrel shotgun is circa 1886. The 32"" modified choke barrels have good bores with firing erosion toward the chambers. The barrels have approx. 85% brown finish with generous amounts of the applied Damascus pattern. The barrel rib is marked COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. and the lockplates are marked Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. The action has a pleasing smooth blue-brown finish. The buttstock is fine with a tight fit, lightly worn checkered wrist, and a couple of dents and dings, most notably on top of the butt at the rear. The checkered forearm (numbered a few numbers off from the gun) is fine with light wear. The action is tight and it functions correctly. This nice example of the Colt Model 1878 shotgun is ready for your Colt or shotgun collection.
