Description: Here we have a beautiful Chiappa Model 1887 lever action Mares Leg shotgun in 12 gauge (5 shots). The 1887 lever-action shotgun is considered to be the first successful repeating shotgun. The Chiappa Firearms® 1887 is a faithful reproduction of this classic firearm. The 1887 utilizes the design of the original solid lever that includes an innovative internal safety. Featuring a European walnut stock and forearm and color case finished receivers, the 1887 is as beautiful as it is functional. This particular example is in outstanding condition and appears to have been shot VERY little if at all. The action is smooth and sure. There is a very slight amount of wear on the right side of the receiver but otherwise it's pristine....not even any wear at the muzzle. These Chiappa mares leg shotguns are incredibly hard to find. Beautiful hand oiled walnut, deep rich bluing and case hardening with strong color make this one handsome firearm. Sine the barrel meets the minimum length for a shotgun this does not fall into the ATF "firearm" catagory. It really is a beautiful gun and would be a great investment and addition to a collection.
