This Italian gun maker offers both standard boxlocks and boxlocks with side-plates. The Essex is a side-plated over-under with old-style engraving. Note also from the accompanying photos that there are no screws on the gun's side-plates, less cluttered than side-plates on true sidelock guns that might have one to several screws. The nice walnut stock and the deep blued barrels contrast very well with the case hardened receiver. This example is in near perfect condition but does have one small mark on the barrel. You probably wouldn't notice it, if you didn't know it was there. 12 Gauge
