Belgian Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve Two Millionth Commemorative Semi-Automatic Shotgun. To commemorate the Auto 5 shotgun, Browning manufactured 2,500 of these shotguns between 1971 and 1974. In addition to light floral scroll engraving on the receiver, the right side has the gold marking "BROWNING / 2,000,000 - 1483" in an oval and on the left side the bust of John Browning and his signature are in gold.
I believe these shotguns have been undervalued in the collector community for quite a long time. They firstly are original full Belgium produced guns, unlike the later high grade limited editions. They are also factory hand engraved with gold inlay, again unlike most of the later production high grades. They also feature factory select grade hand checkered walnut, and HAND FILED cross hatch vent rib barrel with single ivory bead front sight! The only other guns this option was implemented on were Midas Grade Superposed and Exhibition guns. Really an exceptional touch to bring the quality of these guns to another level.
28" vent-rib barrel, 2 3/4" chamber and the choke gauges at improved modified. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches. Mounted with high gloss, high grade checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a black plastic FN Auto 5 buttplate.
Gun is housed in its special black Hartman type case with commemorative label on top. Interior is lined in gold fuzzy fleece, and contains the Two Millionth Auto 5 Commemorative booklet.
The gun remains in near mint condition, but there are a few faint handling marks and wear present but they are very unobtrusive. There is 1 tight grain crack in the forearm but it's stable and hard to notice unless the lighing is just right. Pretty certain it is factory fired only with factory grease still present on internals and other protected areas. Overall the gun displays like new and would make a great addition to any collection.
Drop at heel: 2-1/2", drop at comb: 1-5/8". Weight: 8 lbs 0 oz. LOP: 14-3/8".
