1965 Vintage Belgian Browning Model A5 Light Twelve 12 Ga. Shotgun w/ 28" Inch Modified Barrel
** Clean Vent Rib Browning ** SOLD
Description:
This is a very attractive all-original and un-molested 1965 Belgian Browning A5 Light Twelve shotgun with some sought-after features. This A5 Light Twelve features the excellent A5 semi-automatic gas-operated action, a factory gloss blue finish, a 28" inch ventilated rib barrel choked "Modified", and the original checkered blonde Walnut stock set. The vent rib barrel combined with the early long tang/round knob design makes this Light Twelve a nice lightly-used collector's piece. The original factory gloss blue finish is very attractive and rates 95% on this Browning, with the deductions coming from some minor high-edge wear on the reciever, some light thinning/wear on the upper and lower tangs, and some scattered small handling/storage marks in the finish. The original factory gold finish on the trigger still shows a lot of nice bright color, with most of the wear concentrated on the trigger face and not really visible from the side. As you can see from the pictures, there are no eyesores or bad areas of the gun, and all of the "wear" is minor and consistent with the rest of the shotgun. This Browning has a very pleasing clean look to it overall. The bore in the 28" inch vent rib barrel is excellent and mirror-bright. There is no pitting, bulges, dents, or any other visible imperfections. The original silver bead front sight is intact and in excellent condition, and the ventilated rib is straight, in excellent condition, and tight to the barrel from one end to the other. The original checkered blonde Walnut stock set is in excellent condition overall. The forearm and buttstock are completely free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, showing only some small handling/storage marks in the wood consistent with the condition of the rest of the gun. Of particular note is that the original forearm is completely free of cracks unlike many we see these days, and the original factory-applied diagram showing the different gas ring positions is still in place on the inside of the forearm and in excellent condition. The checkering panels on the forearm and wrist are crisp and clean, and the original factory-installed FN/Browning-branded buttplate is in superb condition, perfectly fit to the wood, and tight with no wiggle. All of the controls on this Browning A5 Light Twelve are in perfect working order, and the action is slick with an excellent fit inside the receiver. The bolt slams home with authority into battery, and when worked by hand the barrel sides back into the reciever smoothly as it was designed to. This Browning should shoot just as reliably today as it did 54 years ago. This 1965 Browning A5 Light Twelve would be the perfect gun for someone wanting one of these classics for their collection that they can actually shoot. It has just enough honest finish wear that you could shoot it without feeling terrible, while at the same time it has enough condition to be an excellent long-term investment.
