1960 Belgian Browning Superposed Grade IV 20ga 26" Vent Rib Barrels Choked Modified over Improved Cylinder
Description:
Up for sale is a tough to find Belgium Browning Superposed 20 Gauge "Fox and Hound" or "Mother of Fox" Grade IV shotgun. This pattern is quite scarce from the factory due its germanic influences and the thought that the American market would not receive it well after the end of WW2. This specific example I believe to be an upgrade although well executed. There is no signature present and the finish is a much thicker more ceramic like french grey than I would expect for a factory 1960 grey gun, the wood is also exceptionally figured but again not what I would expect for a factory gun from 1960.
Condition is very good, there is limited handling evidence or wear, one small hairline crack on the left side of the forearm. Gun weighs 6.7lbs. LOP measures 14 1/8" with a neutral cast.
It is quite a stunning piece and would serve well as a placeholder in lieu of a factory engraved Grade IV 20ga (I have been told by a handful of collectors that they believe only 7-11 20ga grade IV's were produced)
Vintage firearms are a passion of mine. I am more than happy to provide any insight or info that I can regarding vintage Brownings or any other collectible firearms. Do not hesitate to call/text me at 402-314-2729 even if it is not about the gun I have for sale! Love talking with people who have an appreciation for them, sharing my knowledge, and learning more when I can.
I provide a 5 day inspection period to ensure you are happy with everything and that I was accurate in my description and photographs. I hope to find good homes where these collectible pieces will be appreciated and enjoyed.
Shipping is a flat $150 to lower 48 (PRIORITY MAIL, INSURED FOR THE VALUE OF THE GUN). It will be well packaged and cared for.
