Capece Signed Belgian Browning Superposed .410 Bore Shotgun
Description:
Exceptional Exhibition Quality Master Engraved, Precious Metal Inlaid, and Capece Signed Belgian Browning Superposed .410 Bore Shotgun with Case
Description:
Manufactured in 1968 and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver Rocco Capece. Single brass front bead sight on the matted vent rib, standard barrel markings and Belgian proofs, chambers marked at 3 inches, and chokes marked "**"/"*" (modified/full). Coin finished boxlock action with false sideplates to increase the area for embellishment. The sidelocks depict dog and bird scenes on either side in semi-relief multi-colored gold inlays with the left showing a pointer flushing two chukar in a mountain scene and the right with a setter and two mallards in a pond scene. The action itself displays attractive broad scrollwork on a matted background with nice accents of stippling as well as a pair of dogs together on the underside. The triggerplate and tangs have been engraved to match, as has the barrel release lever, which has been skeletonized showing off the engraver's skill. Capece signed his work on the right hand side of the triggerguard with "CAPECE" in small letters. Exhibition grade, multi-point checkered, Turkish walnut three piece forearm with engraved fittings and a semi-Schnabel tip and round knob pistol grip stock with skip line checkered bare butt. The stock was done by Browning master stock builders Robert Stock and Raymond Sterck per the consignor. Included with this exemplary gun is a Browning Naugahyde takedown case. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 9 oz.
