Browning Superposed O/U 12 ga 28", 1953 manufacture date, CHOKE TUBES
Description: metal Browning O/U Superposed, 12 guage, 28" barrels with Briley (Thin Wall) Chokes. The shotgun has obviously been maintained through the years and is a good shooter. I had intended on selling this shotgun for awhile, as just one too many shotguns. I recently had a problem with the lower barrel light striking the primer. This is a rather common problem with the Superposed, an indicator the receiver parts(springs and firing pins)need replacement. I sent the gun off for a rebuild to Art's Gunshop in Hillsboro, Missouri, and it's now back in working order. A rebuild receipt is available upon request. I don't know the history on this particular firearm, but the previous owner(s) took good care of it. The shotgun has a few minor depressions (knicks if you will) in the wood, that I would describe as cosmetic. The fore-end and pistol grip areas could use a little refinishing coat. The checkering is in good shape. The metal and engaving are in good condition. There are no signs of rust, pitting, or damage to the metal, but there are some very minor surface scratches where the forend slides forward on the bottom barrel to allow cleaning. The bores appear to be excellent. The ejectors are in good working order. The overall bluing is good with some light wear on the bottom of the receiver and tang. The Briley chokes were installed by Briley and comes with 5 chokes: Skeet, IC, MOD, IM, LM in Briley case with choke tube wrench. These are Briley Thin Wall Chokes-LEAD ONLY. Bottom line costs of rebuild and choke installation was approximately $1100.
