1961 Grade 1 Browning Superposed Shotgun in 12 Gauge Magnum w/ 30" Inch Barrels
** Clean Superposed! **
SOLD
Description:
This is a beautiful 1961 vintage Belgian Browning Grade 1 Superposed 12 Gauge Magnum model with 3" inch chambers and 30" inch barrels. This gun is "pre-salt" and has the desirable round knob / long tang configuration that Browning purists look for. The gun appears all-original except for the choke on the top barrel which was opened up to match the choke of the bottom barrel which is Improved Cylinder (**-). With the 30" barrels and a length of pull of 14.25" inches to the end of the factory Browning-branded recoil pad, this shotgun would be an ideal sporting clays/skeet gun if you enjoy shooting classic vintage shotguns. It would also be an excellent dove gun or field gun for upland game, and the 3" inch chambers would give you enough gun for tough pheasants out west. As you can see in the pictures the blue finish is in superb condition overall, with only some small spots of wear and thinning finish on some of the high edges. The bores in both barrels are in excellent condition. There are no dents, bulges, or pitting visible whatsoever. The original checkered Walnut stock set has some beautiful figure and dark contrasting grain in it for a Grade 1 gun. The varnish is still intact all-around, and the wood only shows some small handling and storage dings/dents/light scratches under close inspection. None of these marks are major or take away from the beautiful overall look of this shotgun. The checkering still looks crisp and clean, and the forearm and buttstock are completely free from cracks or repairs. The factory recoil pad is in great shape, perfectly fit and tight to the wood. Mechanically, this Browning Superposed 12 Ga. Magnum shotgun is in excellent condition. All of the controls work 100% like the day it left the factory, and the action locks up tight with no wiggle perfectly "on face". As you can see in the pictures, the action lever shows very little break-in wear and still sits to the right of the safety "S" stamped on the middle of the upper tang. The ejectors work perfectly in this Browning as well, and pop out with authority on each barrel after firing. If you have been looking for a 12 gauge over and under with class and good looks to add to your collection, this Browning would be an excellent choice. You could carry this classic shotgun to any skeet field, dove shoot, or pheasant hunt anywhere with pride!
