1957 Vintage Belgian Browning Superposed Grade 1 12 Gauge Shotgun w/ 28" Inch Barrels SOLD
Description:
This is a nice honest early-production Browning Superposed Grade 1 12 gauge shotgun that was manufactured in 1957. It is in great shape overall but the stock has been cut down for someone small in stature or for a youth, with a length of pull of 12.25" inches to the end of the pad. The Browning Superposed over and under shotgun is one of the all-time classics with a superb reputation for reliability and class. Manufactured in Belgium for Browning, it has been a popular gun with American shooters and hunters since it first arrived in the States prior to WW2. Today the Superposed models remain sought-after by shooters, hunters, and collectors. This 12 gauge example has it's original factory blue finish intact with 28" inch vent rib barrels choked "Modified" and "Full", a single selectable trigger, automatic ejectors, and a checkered pistol-grip European Walnut stock set. The original blue finish still looks really nice, rating 95% with the only deductions coming from some handling marks and a little high edge wear of the finish. The bores in both barrels are mirror-bright and pristine with no pitting, dents, bulges, or imperfections of any kind. The vent rib on top of the barrels is in excellent shape with all of the joints intact and tight, and no bends or dents. The original stock set is in good overall shape but as mentioned before, has been cut down to a short 12.25" inch length of pull and there is a small repair on the left side of the forearm just below the factory stamping on the upper barrel. There is a close up of this repair. The checkered panels on the pistol grip and forearm are still in great shape and clean without any oil soiling. The buttstock has a sliver initial plate on the keel with the initials "D.B.G." engraved on it and the recoil pad that has been fit to the buttstock is a brown Pachmayr pad 1" inch in size with the black and white spacer. The action of this Browning locks up tight and the barrels are perfectly "on face". All of the controls on this Browning are in perfect working order, including the auto ejectors and selectable trigger/safety. This Browning Superposed Grade 1 would be the perfect choice for someone small in stature or a great candidate for a custom re-stocking. Priced at $695 this Browning is a great deal.
